When nine innings of the playoff tiebreaker was not enough to decide the AL Central, the Tigers scored in the top of the tenth. The Detroit Tigers had the bases loaded in the top of the twelfth.So many opportunities, yet every single time, the Detroit Tigers failed to capitalize.

This capped a spectacular few days for Minnesota sports fans, as the Twins recovered from a three game deficit with four games left to defeat the Detroit Tigers for the AL Central crown. In addition, Brett Favre was able to defeat his former Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football.
For the Detroit Tigers, it is just adding salt to the wounds of a city that is struggling from the recession. The Tigers blew a handful of opportunities for the past few months and the playoff tiebreaker to clinch the AL Central, but they managed to lose their AL Central lead at the worst possible time.
The Detroit Tigers got out to a 3-0 lead after three. The Tigers were up 5-4 going into the bottom of the tenth. The Tigers had the bases loaded in the top of the twelfth tied at 5. Still, the Minnesota Twins were able to dig down and pull the game to the twelfth inning, where they were finally able to complete the fall of the Detroit Tigers.
In less than 24 hours, the Minnesota Twins will travel to New York to take on the New York Yankees. The Yankees have the best record and the highest payroll in the MLB, but the Twins are one of the hottest teams in baseball, as they were 17-4 going into the final weekend.
