I am not really a fan of The View; nevertheless, I know that many women (including my mother) really enjoy and appreciate the show. It appears that The View has had a couple of rough seasons. The first blow to the show was the departure of Meredith Vieira who left the show to become an anchor on the Today Show. In the midst of the buzz of who would replace Meredith, Star Jones made a surprise announcement that she would be leaving the show. Rumors and speculation was that she was leaving because ABC was considering hiring her arch-enemy, Rosie O'Donnell. Then comes Rosie O'Donnell who seemed to upset and/or offend almost half of the population. She bumped heads with Donald Trump, upset Kelly Ripa to the point that she felt compelled to phone into the show, and has even some of the most liberal Americans upset about her tirades about President Bush and other governmental leaders.

So where does The View go from here? It is clear that Barbara Walters will probably not return to the show on a regular basis. So who will replace Rosie? Here are some candidates I think ABC should consider for the daytime spot (not in any particular order).

1. Get 2 for 1 with -
Joan Rivers and her daughter Melissa. These two were recently ousted from their position with the TV Guide Channel so they are probably available. The reality is that Rosie has a few fans out there. Those same fans would probably appreciate the crudeness of Joan Rivers so it might be a good transition.
Tia and Tamera Mowry. These two twins most known for their roles on the show "Sister-Sister" would bring a fresh perspective and possibly a young audience to The View. Because of their Christian values, I think they might give Elisabeth a little support on some issues. If you've ever watched the show, it seems she could use a little help.

2. Stick with comedians like -
Wanda Sykes - she is a female comedian of color and is quite outspoken. She might "mix up" the fan base.
Jackee Harry (remembered mostly for her role on 227) - she'll keep people laughing without being offensive.
Fran Drescher - If you can get beyond her voice, she might be a good addition to the show.

I'll settle for thank God "the Mouth" is gone! What a jerk she is!

Anne Coulter would make it quite exciting, especially if like Kimberly said, it's on a day when Rosie is a "guest". I'll be surprised to see Rosie's so called guest appearances, but we shall see.

Jamie, I would love to see Anne Coulter on The View! Would love to have seen both her AND Rosie on The View. She would have had ol' big-mouth for lunch. ;-) Problem is, Coulter's way too smart for that bunch of dimwits.

You never know. Now that Rosie is gone Star Jones Reynolds might be willing to come back - that would be great Thanks everyone for your comments. Keep em coming. We might just name the replacement.

I vote for Wanda Sykes :) She's great! I wouldn't mind Joan and Melissa though. Although they are really cheesy, they are still funny.

They did a poll like this on Fox News. The overwhelming response (with votes still coming in): Anne Coulter. Wouldn't that be a hoot! I think Barbara Walters would shoot herself first, though. I liked your idea of Wanda Sykes -- she's quite an interesting person.

When they were talking about adding someone to The View, before they announced it was Rosie, I remember saying, 'Anyone but Rosie'.
