Even if you only have the most fleeting of knowledge about the New York City dining scene, you probably know that you'll be able to find food from just about anywhere in the world. Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Italian, Spanish and many other varieties are available from the most unique and expensive to the most convenient and tucked away restaurants. While people seek out the best Italian cuisine the city has to offer, many forget that American cuisine is some of the best around and New York City certainly is no slouch when it comes to American food.

A unique take on American cuisine can be found at Manhattan's BLT Steak. Executive Chef Laurent Tourondel adds a twist to the American cuisine with his fine French cuisine training. You'll find meats of all kinds rich in flavor, tender when necessary, and seasoned to perfection with the right amount of herbs and the like. You'll also be able to choose from seafood (which the chef was originally most known for) including hefty amounts of lobster and some of the best swordfish that'll ever touch your lips.

If you're like most and you came for the hearty meat and not the seafood, then the gigantic 40-ounce porterhouse steak will undoubtedly jump out and grab your attention, meant for two of course. There are several other large steaks and selections that are specifically designed for two. However, if you're looking for something just for yourself then the 16 oz. New York Strip and the 14 oz. Veal Chop have all received rave reviews from past diners and publications.

Beyond the wealth of meaty dishes there's also a healthy selection of delicious sides and appetizers to choose from. There's a delicious Lobster Cobb Style Salad but if you're getting a traditional steak you might want to get something more contingent with that selection. What that simply means is that you should pay attention to the potatoes and vegetables sections of the menu. You can go with classic (and perhaps the best side on the menu) onion rings, baked or mashed potatoes and roughly a dozen others.
