Gender Identity Disorder is on the rise among children. Children now are coming out and talking about how they feel as they are trapped in the wrong body. How does this affect a child who feels this way and how can we approach this situation in a positive way. For a child as young as six years old to feel this way, it can put them into depression and make them withdraw from society. These children can have these feelings as young as six years old and up. Some parents who have children with Gender Identity Disorder disown their child. When a parent disowns their child due to the Gender Identity Disorder, this has a huge affect on the child. This is when the child goes into a deep depression and at times, some have committed suicide.

Some children who are born male and have the male parts actually feel female. These males actually have all the other characteristics of a female. The same goes for a child who is born a female. They have all the female parts but feel like a male on the inside and they also have all the characteristics of a male. Parents who have children who have Gender Identity Disorder need to approach this in a positive way and support their child. This is in no way the child's fault. This is a disorder in which you are born with.

If these children are supported and people would think more about the child's feeling, they may grow up and lead a normal life. Approaching this disorder in a negative way can have a huge affect on these children. This only puts more pressure on the child when they have enough to deal with already.
