Are you at a loss for ideas on how to obtain more subscribers to your newsletter? Have you just started a newsletter and you need to build your opt-in subscriber base? Do you just want to get some fresh new subscribers on your mailing list to help increase your profit line?

Anyone that runs a website for business type purposes needs a newsletter. A newsletter helps keep you in contact with your readers and customers. It also allows you to let your readers know when you have updated your website, added new products to your site, or a host of other possibilities.

Add a sign up subscriber box or link to every page on your website. Since most of hits come from a search engine, it's unlikely that a person landing on your site will land on the subscription page or main index page. Adding a sign up box to each page insures that anyone that lands on your site will have the opportunity to sign up for your newsletter.

Offer new subscribers a free gift for signing up. The free gift could be a free ebook. Upon confirmation of the subscription, have an auto responder send the link to download the free ebook. Setting this up takes only minutes to do but it can increase your subscriber count simply because so many people like the idea of getting something for free.

Have a newsletter subscription contest. Offer a prize to current subscribers, having them to help you gain subscribers. You can make a special link for any subscribers wishing to participate, enabling you to know how many signed up and under which current subscriber. The prize would need to be something that would make it worthwhile for current subscribers to participate.

Advertise your newsletter (and website) in other newsletters and ezines. The cost to advertise in many online newsletters is fairly low in most cases. When deciding on where to advertise, think more along the lines of who reads said newsletter over the topic of the newsletter. For example, a homeschooling newsletter would mostly be read by younger stay at home moms. A gardening newsletter might be read by any age and either gender.
