I Read Playboy Magazine for the Articles

Okay, I know what you are thinking. Nobody reads Playboy for the articles. That's just a cheap way of defending yourself from any scrutiny that comes from owning a Playboy. I know this because that is exactly what I once believed. Boy was I wrong.I'm a 23 year old guy, who just never obtained a fascination with Playboy. Maybe it's due to the Internet age, but Playboy just seemed... tame and lame. So I never picked one up until earlier this year, when Ms. Tricia Helfer, from Sci-Fi's "Battlestar Galactica" graced the front cover. I'll be honest, I wanted to see what she looked like nude, so I bought the magazine. She had nothing I haven't seen before, but the content of the magazine contained more than I had ever seen in a single issue of any men's magazine. I immediately became a subscriber.
I've found myself engulfed in a magazine that covered a wide variety of topics, such as social issues like gun control, abortion, and war, next to articles on corrupt politicians, freedom of speech, religious tolerance and more. Most of which admit-tingly, is liberal leaning, but so am I.
The amount of text included within the magazine is to be commended. Playboy does not publish a twenty questions interview, overwhelmed with pictures like Maxim and Stuff do. Instead, you get a single small shot of the interviewee, and six to eight pages of small font text. A good five to ten minute read. Not only is the interview quite large, but since Playboy is not sold to minors, a wider category of adult topics can be covered if deemed necessary.
