My husband has always been a loving and supportive person. I wanted to do something special for him to express my appreciation for everything that he does. That is when I came up with the idea to have a surprise jolly good fellow party. I wanted to make the party special so I brainstormed how I could make the jolly good fellow party an event that he will always remember. The following ideas helped me have a successful jolly good fellow party and I know will help anyone who wants to throw a special party for that special person they appreciate.

Make a list of people to invite. I thought about people he is close with and some that he hasn't seen in years. I was lucky enough through research to find a good friend he hasn't seen since high school. Have then list is made send out the invitations. The invitations could be store bought or to save money make it homemade. I made homemade invitations with my husbands face on the front of the card titled "Jolly Good Fellow Party".

Decide where to have the party. I wanted the party to be a surprise so I wanted to avoid having it at my house. So I thought about several different options. The party can take place at a restaurant, friend's house, a park or at our local church. I decided at a friend's house. I figured it would be a lot easier to come up with some excuse to come over to a friend's house versus at a park.

Decorate the location. I thought about decorating our friend's house with a theme my husband would like. For example, my husband enjoys golf. So I had pictures, balloons, and streamers that represented golf. You can buy theme related décor at a craft or party store.

Have the jolly good fellow's favorite foods. Think about what they like to eat and provide that at the party. For example, my husband loves Mexican food. So I had some friends help out in bringing different Mexican dishes to the party. For dessert you can buy or bake a cake. I bought a cake from a local grocery store. I had them make a cake in the shape of a golf ball. Then I had my husbands picture on the cake. Some grocery stores can scan any picture onto the cake, which looks very cool.
