Healthy Halloween Treat Ideas
Healthy Options to Give to Trick-or-treaters
Halloween is a wonderfully fun time of year for kids and adults alike but it can become a very unhealthy time of year due to all of the candy that is on offer. This year you can help make a difference by giving your trick-or-treaters some healthy Halloween treats. As you will see, healthy Halloween treats can be as fun and festive as candy, and you'll be helping to make a difference.Healthy Halloween Treat Ideas:
Pretzels - Pretzels are a wonderful choice as they are low in fat and sugar. You can now buy mini pretzels in Halloween themed containers that are prefect for trick-or-treaters.
Popcorn - Just like pretzels, popcorn is low in fat (choose light varieties) and sugar. You can find individually wrapped bags of small servings of popcorn that are a great choice for healthy Halloween treats.
Gummy Fruits - Gummy fruits do contain sugar but they are low in fat. You can find all kinds of individually wrapped packages of gummy fruits in Halloween shapes and colors.
Stickers - Halloween treats don't need to be edible. Halloween themed stickers make great healthy Halloween treats. Stores like Target or Walmart usually have good selections of Halloween stickers.
Pencils - Fun and practical, kids will be able to use their Halloween pencils for weeks after Halloween.
Erasers - Just like pencils, Halloween themed erasers are both fun and practical, as kids will get good use out of them.
Spider Rings - Even though these have been around for ages, kids still love them. You can get spider rings or other Halloween themed rings such as skulls, ghosts, and pumpkins.
Pennies - This healthy Halloween treat idea usually requires a trip to the bank and a bit of preparation time. Depending on your budget, and the number of trick-or-treaters you are expecting, you can put 10 to 20 pennies in a square of plastic wrap and then gather the plastic wrap up and tie with orange or black ribbon. (Pennies should not be given to children ages 3 and under.)
