On Wednesday, April 11 celebrity actor Alec Baldwin unleashed explosive threats and insults toward his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, after she missed a scheduled morning phone call. Upon hearing this, everyone's first impression of Alec Baldwin's message was nothing more than disgust. His daughter refused to take a scheduled phone call. However, it'd be difficult to point out that that was the initial motive for calling her a "rude, thoughtless little pig."

Lots of parents go off on their kids. He thinks like many old timers: Kids learn through fear, not love. If Kim Basinger, his ex-wife and mother of Ireland, let this leak out, it's no surprise since it's coming from an ex-wife. Situations like these happen a lot and it should not have been open to the media at all.

According to an article on MSN, Baldwin will be taking legal action to find out who leaked the tape: "In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing ... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order. The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order. Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years."

The reference to Basinger illustrates to anyone that she is probably on top of the list in leaking the tape. Again, there seems to more to the story than meets the eye. Shouldn't the media take into account that Mr. Baldwin is ostensibly just an emotionally hurt father due to the fact that his own daughter isn't showing that she cares about him? Any father would be hurt. During the course of any custody battle involving the child staying with one parent and having limited visits with the other, the faraway parent will undoubtedly want as much contact with their child.

Dana I agree. Baldwin dug this hole. He has nobody to blame but himself. People often forget that just because children are young does not mean they are stupid. Baldwin showed his real colors and his child does not live in a vacuum. If that father/daughter relationship falls apart, Baldwin will have to take responsibility for sealing his fate as a father. I had a father speak to me in that manner along with physical, verbal, and emotional abuse. My mother never once criticized my father in my presence. I came upon that truthism on my own. He was a power-hungry manipulating drunk. Nobody forced liquor down is throat. He did that himself. He did the crime and now he is alone doing the time since he forced everyone out of his life with his abuse. Baldwin is following the same line of abuses. Kim doesn't have to do anything except wait for Ireland to catch up to the fact her father is not a healthy individual and she is better without him until HE seeks mental and emotional help, which I h

If my father were in the habit of calling me a pig, I wouldn't take his calls either. Why not hold him to moral values? He's rich. He can afford to follow them.
