Cashing in on internet "friend" making there will possibly soon be a movie in theatres entitled " MyTop8", as a clever tie-in with the social ranking, status-meter used by the website: Myspace.

Myspace, Youtube, and Facebook are just a few of the social networking sites were one can meet new cyber friends and sometimes see humorous videos. On the video front Myspace has even had a pretend "Myspace Movie" making fun of the site and its different features and affects on culture. David Lehre created that just over 11 minutes flick and one can find it at his website, the first link below or on Youtube with the second link:

However, beyond small internet films, comes a deal for Dean Shull and Shahrook Oomer to produce and direct the comedy: "MyTop8: The Movie".

The movie, which Shull and Oomer wrote together, will center around a guy who decides to take a road trip across the country. This isn't just a random road trip movie, however. The lead role slacker is setting off on this trip in order to meet his cyber friends in person. Along with the friends he is tracking down from sites such as Myspace, Youtube, and Facebook he will also be looking to meet up with a variety of internet celebrities. Sounds like another publicity opportunity for Tila Tequila right? If you're not familiar with internet celebrities she would probably be the up-front and center choice of example to explain. Tila started her career seemingly on Myspace where she was able to take her modeling photos and gain millions of friends which in turn made her a success in most other ventures she promoted, such as music. One can find her at www.myspace.com/tilatequila or in random places throughout mass media from magazines to television shows. Considering the popularity of these social sites and success of people like Tila it sounds like Shull and Oomer may have a winning formula.

I think it will be a success with quite a wide audience. Will it be a very good flick? Eh, probably not, but I'll probably pay to see it. Innovative idea by the producers, no doubt.
