Every musical act out there knows that the hardest part about being a musician is getting your proverbial foot in the door. Yes, even harder than the hours of practice, creative differences and mental blocks that come with the territory. Upcoming rockers struggle for recognition, however, it's gotten easier in the recent past, 2001 in fact, when Sonicbids was created. Sonicbids is an online community where over seventy thousand artists can get their music out to over six thousand managers, labels and promoters in more than one hundred countries. The www.sonicbids.com website has an easy, yet cluttered interface allowing artists to make a big splash where barriers previously kept them far away from even testing the waters.

Founder and CEO Panos Panay, once a promoter himself, came up with the idea of Sonicbids when he "kept thinking that there had to be a better way for musicians and promoters to connect with each other besides bulky and expensive mail-in press kids." That "way" happened to be the Internet and when he decided on the feasibility of the medium, he put his idea into sonic motion. He set up a home office, went into debt, assembled a team of other artists and eventually it all evolved into the mega-site it is today.

According to their Website, "simply put, we want Sonicbids to be the common language that people who make music, and people who promote music use to connect and transact with one another..." This site makes it possible for the two entities of musicians and promoters to connect in an easy, quick and furthermore, relatively cheap manner.

The forum boards at SonicBids are good too. Lots of pier-to-pier info being offered.
