Most musicians are familiar with the phrase "Don't quit your day job." But if a musician is truly committed to their band's success, they can't spend all day at a 9-5 when there's much more work to do than just practice. Press kits need to be built and mailed, demo CDs need to be recorded and manufactured, t-shirts, stickers, and posters need to be designed and printed, photo and video shoots need to be scheduled, tours booked and promoted. All of this takes time and energy most people with day jobs don't have. Unfortunately, the only people who can afford these services are those unfortunates working a fulltime job just to supplement their musical passions.Portland artist Ilan Laks understands that even the hardest working musicians struggle with affordable promotion and production, so he started AudioCinema, an artist owned and operated production facility catering to Portland's ever-expanding music and art scene.
Laks beams, "Just yesterday a band came in here; they made $200 from a show they played, so they got 100 CDs, photo and press kits." Within the 10,000 plus square feet of warehouse space, AudioCinema offers services to meet all the needs that even the most penniless of bands can afford.
