Being pregnant has many joys, but it also has many complications and symptoms. One of the symptoms is dehydration, which can happen without you even knowing. Throughout your pregnancy you are supposed to drink 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day. This helps with the growth of your baby and also lessens some of your other symptoms such as contractions. Braxton hicks contractions are contractions that help you prepare for the actual birth of your child. It is like a sample of the real contractions you will experience when in labor.

What are the signs of Dehydration?
Some of the signs include:
Dark yellow urine
More frequent Braxton Hicks contractions
Dizziness
Constipation

What other complications are related to dehydration?
Dry skin
Pre-term labor
Miscarriage
Hemorrhaging

How can I prevent dehydrating?
Drink plenty of water daily
You can also drink juices which will help keep you hydrated
Make sure if you are vomiting to maintain yourself drinking plenty of fluids

I myself was admitted to the hospital for dehydration. I wasn't really aware of my symptoms. I was having horrible back pain and contractions that wouldn't go away. When they checked my urine it was a dark yellow, they immediately put me on IV's and made sure that I was feeling better before they let me go. Since I left I have been drinking water non-stop and I am feeling better.

The reason I wrote this article is because I don't want any pregnant women to have to go through any of the symptoms I had and any of the other symptoms you can get from dehydration. Being well informed is something pregnant women should be in order to have a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. Make sure you keep hydrated and you will have the best stress free pregnancy ever.

i had to go into the hospital last week and they determined i was dehydrated. I have tried to drink more water but today i am extremely fatigued and i slept over 13 hours last night. I don't want to go into pre-term labor. Is water the only solution?
