Tips on How to Find a Free Turkey in Your Area
What says Holiday Dinners better than a roasting turkey in the oven dressed with the mouthwatering aroma of sage or a turkey shot up with Cajun seasonings. Have you tried the famous deep-fried turkeys yet? It's the Turkey season to whip up your favorite way to fix your own style of turkey. It's also the time of year for Goodwill and sharing with those who are less fortunate than we are. A time for giving or donating funds to a secure foundation that offers meals for the Homeless, Meals on Wheels, Human Resources, Churches or the many others who help families who otherwise would be without. Here are three ways to begin your search.
1) Check your grocery ads and stores. Most grocery chains offer a free turkey by giving a certificate after you have purchased $50 to $100 on each visit. I know this sounds like a lot but it's all too easy with today's prices not to spend that amount over the Holidays for odds and ends to complete or add to your recipes or projects. Krogers, Randalls, Winn Dixie, Rice Food Markets, Handy Pantry, HEB, Safeway, Albertsons, or Giant Food Stores usually offer this type of service. You don't have one of these food chains, no problem search for chains over the internet that is in your area that offers this special purchase deal.
2) The Salvation Army has programs each year to give away Turkeys to those in need. Make sure you contact them now to get on their waiting lists and find out what necessary paperwork you'll need to provide them to get your free turkey. Don't be ashamed or feel unworthy to participate in this program. Most of us fall upon hard times and need a helping hand every once in awhile and that's exactly what these types of programs were created for. I can't stress enough though to "Do It Now" because the only have a certain amount that's donated each year.
