Warning Teens to Be Safe

Every parent's night mare is to have the phone ring in the early morning hours before dawn or have a knock at your door and see two police officers standing there, waiting to give you heart breaking news. It happens more often than the
news papers report it. That is why as parents you need to talk with your children. Help them to understand being safe will not hinder the fun they plan for prom. It will only make sure that they come home with golden memories to cherish for their entire life time.

Prom plans should be made in advance. The limo rental name, address and phone number should be left with both parents (or any parents of kids who will be riding in the limo).

The Prom destination and hours should also be posted.

Your plans for after Prom should be listed. Will you be staying with friends? Or will you be moving the party to a Hotel Suite?

If there will be underage drinking (like there is an if to it) Who will be the designated driver after the Limo has left for the evening?

Parents remind your ladies that date rape still happens and that their drink, even if it is water, should be watched and not left unattended.

Have a back up plan encase something goes wrong. Keep a cell phone handy to make emergency phone calls.

When driving make sure that you are awake and alert. It is not always what you do, but rather what others do that can cause accidents.

If you do not want R. I. P. to be your new diploma. Listen to normal safety guidelines and Don't think it can't happen to you. That is when it usually does.

Use seat belts when you are in the vehicles.

Pay close attention to parking lot exits and four way stops. Do not speed on lonely highways.

Everyone wants to have fun. Sometimes the best fun is being able to enjoy your evening and remember what was so special about it for the future moments in life. Limit drug use with alcohol use.

If someone has been drinking do not leave them alone. If they look like they are sleeping, make sure they are OK. Many young adults die of alcohol poisoning each year. Or become very ill and need help getting medical attention.
