The New Orleans Saints had been in, on again-off again talks with the standout cornerback for a few weeks now. The Saints had tendered an offer for him four days ago, and the Indianapolis Colts had three days to match the offer in order to keep him on the team. Well, the Colts let the three days pass without matching the offer, and now Jason David has moved from the AFC to the NFC, and from one very good football team on the decline to another very good football team on the rise. He is reported to be set to receive receive about $16 million over the length of the contract. Specific details are not available at this time.

The Colts considered the offer by the Saints to the up and coming cornerback too much under the league's $102 million salary cap. However, in return, the Indianapolis Colts will get a fourth-round draft pick from the Saints, come tomorrow, NFL draft day. This will give the Indianapolis Colts three picks in the fourth round and nine overall in the draft. The NFL draft starts tomorrow, Saturday, the 28th of April.
