If you love the Great Outdoors or want a taste of the Great Outdoors you can't go wrong by visiting Winter Park CO in the summer time. Winter Park is located up top of the Rocky Mountains in the Fraser Valley. The Colorado High Country is one of the most beautiful places on earth. I am not a winter person but I dearly love to go to winter resorts in the summer time.

The summer at Winter Park brings with it an abundance of color in whatever direction you look. As you sweep your eyes across the scenes from forest to meadow each view is a true postcard view. Everything seems to go in slow motion, which makes the experience all very peaceful and surreal. I can see myself sitting out on the deck gazing up into the deep blue sky, hearing the leaves rustling in the lite breeze. It's Rocky Mountain High...Colorado. I'm sorry I got carried away there.

You'll enjoy the taste of the great American West at Winter Park as well. Mountain bike rides through the pine forest along a babbling creek. Sitting in the stands watching the High Country Stampede Rodeo. How about tasting every entry in the great chili cook off. Maybe they'll have enough people to participate in the Jalapneo pepper-eating contest. Later you can ride the gondola up to the top of the mountain and while there have a nice lunch or dinner while you enjoy the breathtaking view.

Our all time family favorite thing to do there is to go down the Alpine Slide. You take a ski lift to the departure platform grab your sleigh and choose the Fast or the Slow slide and blast off. Oh what fun, over 3000 feet of twists and turns laughing all the way down. Our kids always begged us to do it again and again and again. Of course I always had to accompany them right?

In the mornings or late afternoon my wife and I love to walk the trail that follows the river that runs through the town. You never know what wildlife you will see meandering along this trail with you. It's one of the most peaceful strolls I've ever taken. Can't wait to get back.
