Telephone polling conducted over the weekend show what is hopefully a promising start for the Third District city council campaign of LP candidate Thomas Keister.

In a survey of registered voters culled from voting records for the 8th precinct, 61.5% of respondents are leaning toward voting Democrat, 7.7% say they will go Republican at the ballot, and in a surprising early showing, Libertarian Thomas Keister is a strong but distant second at 23.1%. Seven percent said they were as of yet undecided.

Democrat 61.5%

Thomas Keister (L) 23.1%

Republican 7.7%

Undecided 7.7%

On the issues, while the majority of those polled were unsure of the biggest issue facing the city of New Albany, Fifteen percent each said the city crime rate and increasing sewer taxes are the top problems currently.

Thomas Keister, Libertarian candidate for New Albany's Third District city council seat, shown here in a 2006 file photo, is off and running with 23% support in early polling.

I'd be willing to guess that you, being a libertarian that's broke, haven't thought out how libertarian economic policy would leave you, well, screwed. Which would be a really piss poor libertarian.

I am a libertarian... I hope to see more valid libertarian candidates in key positions soon.
