How to Create Inexpensive, Personalized Gift Baskets

2
Holiday gift baskets have been a popular gift item for some time now. Some of us have found ways to create personalized gift baskets based on interest. What is more challenging is to create inexpensive gift baskets. Here is a guide to follow, to create unique, thoughtful personalized baskets under $10-$20 each.

Make gift baskets for everyone on your holiday giving list. This enables you to purchase items in bulk and get better prices. From the baskets you fill to the items you put in the basket, buying multiple quantities is a sure way to save money.

Make a list of each person on your shopping list and note their personal hobbies and interests. Knowing each person's hobby or interest will guide you in the selection of items to include in their holiday gift basket. Try to set a theme for each person based on favorite sport, leisure pastime, things they collect, occupation or interest.

Start gathering supplies early. The early bird gets the worm but also, in this case, the better deals. I have found rock bottom prices and excellent prices by starting early and watching for great sales year round. For example, I fill children's holiday gift baskets with school supplies purchased in August at back-to-school sales. In August, I stocked up on $.88 markers, ten cent glue sticks and buy one get one free specialty Crayola art supplies. At Christmas, I'll be using those for gift baskets and stocking stuffers.

Check these stores and venues for the best prices on bulk holiday gift basket purchases. Sam's Club, Barnes and Noble, B. Dalton, KB Toys, TJ Maxx, Menard's, Staples, Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Pier One Imports, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Bath and Body Works, Kohl's, Claire's, Fashion Bug, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Walgreens, Target and Wal-Mart. I have found that these retailers have the lowest prices for the best products in their specialty marketing areas.
