The Lowest Calorie Options from Major Ice Cream Stores and Other Low Calorie Tricks
America's most popular warm weather treat is ice cream. With the warm weather of summer finally upon us those of us who are dieting face a real challenge finding "healthy" ice cream that does not taste like it is made from a cardboard box. Here are a few of
the tastiest options from the major ice cream stores around the country that offer low to no fat calorie choices for those health conscious patrons.
Ben & Jerry's
Ben & Jerry's have some pretty good choices in the low fat and nonfat frozen treat department. Their fat free sorbet comes in a variety of flavor combinations and only tips the scales at 100 calories or a little over depending on the flavor combination. Have to have ice cream? Opt for the frozen yogurt because a half cup serving has just 130 to 160 grams of fat per half cup serving.
Baskin Robbins
The Truly Free has no fat and no sugar added so this is your best bet here. A half cup serving will only give you 80 to 90 calories of your daily calorie intake. The only downside is that it only comes in 5 flavors. The low fat frozen yogurt is still an alright choice at 100 to 170 calories. Sherbet flavors come in right around 165 calories for the majority of those flavors.
Dairy Queen
Dairy Queen is not very diet friendly. Only some of the DQ stores carry the fat free DQ Fudge Bar and the DQ Vanilla Orange Bar. If you want an ice cream cone than make sure it is made with the reduced- fat soft serve. It has about 150 calories per small serving.
Carvel
Diet plan followers rejoice. Carvel has truly stepped up to the plate in the diet friendly ice cream department. The Thinny- Thin line at Carvel offers a lot of tasty options. A small serving will only set you back a surprising 120 calories. That is quite stunning when you learn that their Peanut Butter Cup Dasher has a whopping 1,090 calories in it.
