What do you see when you turn on the television? You see Brittney Spears shaving her head. What do you see on the front page of Associated Content? You see Sanjaya. Go to a supermarket or bookstore. What's on the covers of the magazines by the cash registers? There's celebrity news, celebrity news and more celebrity news. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Lindsey Lohan, Prince William. Everyone knows the latest happenings about them. If they don't they're considering to be oblivious to the world or have no life.

Am I the only one who sees something wrong with this? When Anna Nicole died it seemed as if I couldn't turn on the television or go on the internet without seeing her face. I have no idea how much air time was given to Anna Nicole because of her death, however, I can think of more important things to hear about then all the rumors and speculations about her death. I submit that perhaps the story about the toddlers forced to fight each other on camera by their mother for entertainment by the other women of the family to be more important. Alas, people are more interested in Anna Nicole.

One story did steal a little bit of air time from Anna Nicole. That would be Brittney Spears' head shaving escapade. I would think that people would get tired of the crazy things that rich, famous people do because they can. Brittney Spears acts like a delinquent teenager and gets tons of publicity. People would be better off hearing about the 6 year old, kindergarten girl who was handcuffed, finger printed and arrested for throwing a tantrum in class. Brittney Spears gets the better ratings.

I agree that too much attention are paid to these stars. But it has alwas been like this. With each year, it may be different stars, yet the world and the media are obessed with them and what they are doing. With this new age of media, we just see and hear even more than they did in the past.

Three cheers for Theresa! I know exactly what you mean. I submit articles about tragic news events and important scientific discoveries, and I get decent page counts. When I submit a story about American Idol, my page views go through the roof. Why? I like to call it "Media Envy".

Interesting article writing about stars that you don't think anyone should write about. Hmmmm. It does get the hits and bring in the money though. Good article.

Great article! AC is suffering from the same thing. Brings in the money though, so I may take advantage of that. Also, if you contact AC, and they actually respond, they can fix the title for you.
