KALEIDOSCOPE EYES

The one who first broke your heart
Painted your vision with orange hues
But so much was left in your sight
It mattered not to you.

The next one who left her mark
Also left streaks of red
To taint your vision and your heart
The same color which you bled.

Along came another one
Who added her own shades of blue
Your sight incredibly blurry now

But it still did not faze you.

You tried again and again it failed
This one added purple in lovely strokes
You believe the rainbow you now see
Keeps you a happy and safe bloke.

Then I came along so happy and free
I turned your world upside down
But the green that is me is not what you see
And our smiles have turned to frowns.

There is no room in your kaleidoscope eyes
For my own color to show through
You see me as a rainbowed mix
Of all who came before and hurt you.

But I am none of them
And as hard as I may try
I cannot get you to see me
And that who I am is not a lie.

Insecurity, Jealousy, and Rage
Is what you choose to see
It pains me deeply to continually say
that none of those reside in me.

Honesty, kindness, and support
Is what I have given you
But you will not trust or believe
No matter what I do.

There is no way for us to win
And nowhere for this to go
It breaks my heart to walk away
But for now it must be so.

If you grow to see what is real
Without your tainted eyes
If you can trust and believe
That you are not seeing lies;

The door is open for a time
And if my heart is free
Perhaps we can try again
To be a you and me.

Dani this is pretty profound..and it's so true and so heartbreaking that men do this sometimes. Unfortunately women can too, the past can be a difficult thing to break from. Hopefully as you move on you will be able to trust with your whole heart again, I know it won't be easy, but hold onto the Lord as you try.
