Exercise won't kill you, but a lack of it just might. The leading causes of death in America are directly related to obesity, which except for genetics causes, is a result of an unhealthy lifestyle. Heart disease is now the number one killer of men and women in the U.S. It's also a preventable disease. Why are we choosing to kill ourselves?

America has become a country of whiners, complainers, and lazy-excuse makers. 66.3% of adults 20 and over are overweight or obese, and 62% of adults 20 and over do not engage in vigorous leisure-time physical activity. The percentage of obese children went from 4% in 1974 to 18.8% in 2003. Connect the dots and the big picture says that the country is getting fat because they don't exercise! It's simple math that doesn't add-up. People know what they need to do but they make excuses. I'm too busy, I have kids, I have back pain, neck pain, ear pain, I can't afford to join a gym or buy equipment. The justification for not exercising is endless. Be honest, you're probably reading this and going through all the reasons you have not to exercise. Where are the rationalizations for working out?

For every excuse there is an answer. Saying that you're too busy to squeeze exercise into your life is a cop-out. There are just as many busy professionals, mothers, and others who manage to fit in some time to exercise. If you can't afford to join a gym or buy home equipment, go for a walk. You have kids-throw them in the stroller or have them bike with you. So you have back pain, swimming is non impact and usually therapeutic. If you used as much energy to figure out how you could exercise as you do to rationalize not working out, you would have already lost the weight.

I keep telling my knees that but they don't like to listen. They gave me the devil on my morning walk. It's all those high impact aerobics I use to do in the 70's and 80's when they said those were good for you. Now I'm paying the price but I'm still trying.
