Stress has become almost common place in today's corporate workplace. More is expected of us in a shorter amount of time. People are expected to juggle more active lifestyles and still perform at an ultimate level and when we don't feel we are achieving that goal, the stress can be overwhelming. There are many things in our workplace that can cause us to feel stress. The important thing is how we handle that stress. People that have many responsibilities and do not have a lot of control over how they are handled, probably experience the greatest amount of stress. Dealing with this stress is very important, because when it is not managed it can lead to health problems. Stress contributes too many serious medical conditions. Finding ways to reduce and eliminate stress in your workplace will not only be good for your employer will also realize benefits from you being under less stress. Discussing issues that are a source of your stress with your superiors may help get some resolutions. Your supervisor may not even realize a problem exists until it is discussed with them. This is a meeting you may want to setup on a regular basis, just address new issues that arise. Try not to take your work home with you. That is your time to relax and be with your family.
Working on your time management skills may help you get more done in less time and this should help alleviate some of the stress you are feeling. It is also a good idea to schedule regular vacations. An extended time away from your work will help you feel rejuvenated. Exercise is also a good way to relieve stress. Taking a walk at lunch will help you feel more relaxed.
The best way for you to relieve stress is to eliminate the source of the stress. Carefully evaluate the reason you are under stress. Do you have too much work? If so, are you able to get someone to help you with your work? Are you having problems with another co-worker? If this is the case, sometimes having a conversation with that person can help. If that does not work, maybe a discussion between supervisors can help. If a process is not working, maybe a meeting between the involved parties will lead to a resolution.
