Chinese food is pretty popular in San Angelo, and one of the overlooked gems among Chinese restaurants there is Chinese Kitchen. It also happens to be the most affordable.

Atmosphere

Chinese Kitchen is a pretty basic and casual restaurant. It is located in a shopping center so there is definitely nothing to distinguish it other than the sign in purple letters. When you go in, you either go left or right. Right is where you order for takeout or pickup a takeout order. Head left and you go to the menu to order if you are dining in. It seems that most people takeout from Chinese Kitchen. My friend and I visited recently and ate in. We placed our order and sat down in a booth.

Menu

Chinese Kitchen has a very impressive menu, and the prices are fantastic. Most of the entrees only cost $5.25 and you get enough food to get two meals out of it. Each meal also comes with an eggroll. The appetizers/side orders are cheap as well. You can get an order of five crab rangoon for only $2.25, which we ordered. They are pretty good but they do skimp on the filling.

I ordered my favorite Chinese dish, Kung Pao Chicken, and yes, it was only $5.25 so I was happy. It is also about as good you will find. There is one other local restaurant that makes better Kung Pao, but it costs almost $3 more, so the Chinese Kitchen Kung Pao is a great value.

My pal got her favorite, Moo Goo Gai Pan, which also cost only $5.25. She was certainly very impressed, and also thinks that there is only one restaurant in town that can compare when it comes to good Moo Goo.

"I didn't know much about this place until today," she said. "I was very impressed with the food and the prices. Can't wait to come back!"

Service

The service is always friendly at Chinese Kitchen. There isn't really a wait staff, it is more of a fast casual type of restaurant. But the people who take your order and bring you your food are friendly. I usually order takeout, and they are always nice over the phone. Many places you call act like you are a bother to them.

Conclusion
