The British Airways London Eye, or Millenium Wheel, is the world's tallest observation wheel at 135 metres, almost 443 feet high. Standing on the banks of the River Thames it offers unrivalled views over London; its capsule passengers being able to see up to 40 kilometres, almost 25 miles, in all directions, in complete comfort and safety. Since opening at the turn of the century, the London Eye has become an iconic landmark, with a status that can be compared to Tower Bridge, Big Ben, Eros and the Tower of London. A source of pride for the whole country as well as the capital, the London Eye is the most distinctive addition this century to the world's greatest city, loved by Britons and tourists alike and visited by over 3.5 million people a year; on average, 10,000 a day.
You can even take a champagne flight on the London Eye, if you wish, but it costs extra. In fact, it costs just over double the normal price of £14.50 for an adult flight. The wheel carries 32 sealed and air-conditioned passenger capsules attached to its external circumference and one revolution takes about 30 minutes.
If you want to take an aerial view of London, then this is the place to go. The Wheel moves very slowly, so it's comfortable to ride in.
Fancy a flight???
