Associated Content (AC) held its inaugural Town Hall Meeting last night, and Luke Beatty, President and CEO of the rapidly growing multimedia company, was the featured speaker for the historical event. I consider this an historic event, because years from now, AC will be one of the premiere multimedia content marketplaces and archives that one will find online. The 50-plus Content Producers in attendance last night will be able to look back on the event and reflect on their participation in the creation of a tradition.

Associated Content is Unique Community

Although there are many sites on the web that allow average individuals to have works that reflect their ideas, expertise, and observations published, AC also provides an environment that is a unique community of Content Producers and Content Managers. And, AC is a community of convenience and diversity that pays!

Unrivaled Variety

When it comes to variety in publishing options, AC offers the most that I have encountered. You can have your work published immediately if you choose not to submit for payment. You can submit your work exclusively to AC or you can submit non-exclusively. Your work can be presented in text or audiovisual media, and can pertain to local, national, or international contexts.

Unusual Access

I'm not sure how many large multimedia companies (which AC is on its way to becoming) offers the opportunity to interact with its CEO as AC did last night at the Town Hall Meeting Webinar, but it was a welcomed opportunity for me. As a relatively new Content Producer, it was refreshing and informative for me to hear Associated Content's President expand on the vision and direction of the company, as well as the roles he envisions Content Producers playing in the company's development.

I perceive the town hall meeting to be nothing more than group vote encapsulations and another exercise of the press release variety. AC contributors can ask questions and report bugs via the forums or the (basically ignored) emails to the admin. If you have to have a town hall to get communication from users and writers, doesn't that point to how badly the other layers of communication are messed up? The Town Hall operations may seem like helpful features but check the bug forum. Plenty of places and spaces AC could be putting that effort.
