Sad Kermit is a new sensation that is sweeping the Internet, and has both the potential to be a forgotten quickie craze, or a marketable franchise for years to come. There are many people that are getting behind this unauthorized movement, and many that are against it.
In March of this year, the video entitled, "Sad Kermit," hit YouTube. It portrays Kermit the Frog singing Johnny Cash's version of, "Hurt," by Nine Inch Nails. In the video, Kermit is seen taking drugs, smoking, drinking, committing sexual acts, and attempting suicide. The website, www.sadkermit.com produced this video.
The video has sparked many response videos, and exploratory videos. According to the current story online, Kermit is going through a very rough time in his life right now.
According to the storyline of Sad Kermit, Kermit started becoming very depressed after Jim Henson died. This led to his alcohol and drug abuse. Miss Piggy left him because she could no longer deal with the frog that he had become.
