Five Golf Courses Under $20 in Western New York

If you love golfing as much as I do, then you are always trying to get out and play. But, the problem is you don't have enough green to pay the greens fee, check out these courses.

1)The State of New York is known for having some great public courses. One of the nice ones in Western New York is Beaver Island. Beaver Island golf course is located in the State Park on the southern tip of Grand Island. Greens Fees are $18 for state residents and the course is kept in good shape. You'll also find some water and sand to add challenge. The course is relatively flat, so it's a great walking course.

2) Delaware Park. Located in the heart of the city, this course used to be a mess, but thanks to the Olmstead Parks Conservancy, the course has improved. For $12 you get 18 holes and the experience of playing golf in the middle of the city. There are also twilight rates if you only have a 10-spot left. Not the greatest course you'll ever play, but your still playing golf.

3)The Erie County Park Course. Grover Cleveland in Amherst and Elma Meadows are both jewels of the park system. Both courses can be played for under $20 and both offer unique challenges. Grover is short and tight, so when you hear "fore," DUCK. Elma is a little more scenic with several hills and tree-lined fairways. Both give you a nice workout and a great value.

4)Rothland golf course in Akron. Though the daily fees aren't under $20, they offer on-line and several seasonal specials offering $18 golf. Rothland is a 27-hole course, so you get a different experience every time you play. The Gold is the toughest course, while the red takes some of the pressure off. Check their website and local papers for discounts.

5)Bob-O-Links. Don't laugh, but this is an 18-hole par three course. Located off Route 78 in Orchard Park this course will improve your game. If your struggling with your irons, or need to putt some real greens this is the place to do it. Greens fees are very reasonable and your bound to have a good time.
