I hear talks of droughts. The rivers and lakes are at extremely low water levels. Here in the desert we are ordered to only water our lawns 2 times a week. Any more than that and the faucets will quickly run dry, leaving no drinking water available. With no water to drink we will all shrivel up and die, or become alcoholics. There is a very simple solution to this matter: Drink The Oceans! Now this has no effect on me as I only drink bottled water, but for the folks who drink out of the sink, this will help out a lot. The human body is meant to absorb as much salt as it can from tap water because there is not much salt in normal tap water. When you drink a glass of ocean water, your body still tries to absorb as much salt as it can. This is a bad thing. Your body will quickly become a salt block.
To avoid being a treat for deer, you need to prepare your body for the salt water. The human body can adapt to the most extreme situations over time, however it will reject drastic changes. The idea is to gradually get your body used to the higher salt content. So start by putting a small pinch of salt in with your tap water and drink it. Gradually up the amount added to each glass over a period of years, and eventually the water you are drinking will match the salinity of the ocean.
This will not happen over night, but with patience and time the human body should adapt. If you live near the ocean, you are all set. Just simply grab buckets of water from the ocean, and put them in the fridge. If you live far away, you will need to take weekly (biweekly?) trips to the sea and bring back the tasty sea juice. Remember this is all being done in the name of water conservation, so if you live in an area where water is plentiful, think about the unlucky ones, like myself, who keep the same bath water for months! If we all start drinking ocean water the world will be a better place for us all. Plus, you will have an excuse to escape to San Diego, or Miami, or Cabo (not really - Mexican water will give you a tummy ache), or any where else.
