WWE World Champion Undertaker Seriously Injured

The Deadman May Miss Several Months of Action

The WWE World Heavyweight Champion of Smackdown (Fridays at 8 p.m. eastern on the CW television Network), Undertaker appears to be seriously injured. Reports surfaced Tuesday afternoon that he was injured and scheduled to meet with famed Dr. James Andrews later in the day.

Undertaker competed in a 20+ minute match on pay-per-view on Sunday night, retaining the championship in a last man standing match against Batista. The match ended when both competitors were knocked out and couldn't answer the ref's ten count.
WWE World Champion Undertaker Seriously Injured

Monday morning, Mark "Undertaker" Callaway was in serious pain. The early prognosis is a significant biceps tear in one of his arms. It's said to be so bad, you can see how it rolled up his arm like a piece of paper.

As of late Tuesday, top pro wrestling news sites like the Wrestling Observer and PW Insider gave no update. WWE has yet to comment on the issue and probably won't until the Undertaker receives a diagnosis from Dr. Andrews and a decision is made about rehabilitation.

If surgery is necessary, he may be out of action for the next six months or more. This comes at a terrible time for an injury because Undertaker has been World Champion for less than a month, winning the title at Wrestlemania 23 several weeks ago. Insider reports said the plan was for him to have a long and sustained run with the championship, as opposed to shorter reigns earlier in his career. Although he's one of the older wrestlers in the company, Undertaker is in tremendous shape and was planning to wrestle on more house shows (non-televised events) as Champion.

For Smackdown, if Undertaker is forced to give up the championship, it will be a major hit. Former heavyweight champion King Booker is out with a knee injury and will miss a few months worth of action. Former heavyweight champion Rey Mysterio is still out rehabbing his knee after he had surgery awhile back. He's expected to return sometime in the summer. Batista will probably re-take the reigns of the brand. He lost the championship to Undertaker at Wrestlemania. The only realistic possibility for the brand involves Mr. Kennedy.
