Phillies-Dodgers Game 5 Punches Latest Phillies World Series Tickets

The Phillies-Dodgers Game 5 wasn't easy, but Phillies World Series tickets were put on sale afterwards, as expected. The Phillies-Dodgers Game 5 was merely the latest Phillies party, as their World Series tickets were punched for the second straight time. In doing so, the Phillies-Dodgers Game 5 turned into a typical Phillies slugfest, with four home runs for the two-time NL champs. The bombs bailed Cole Hamels out, and were enough for a suddenly red-hot bullpen, as the Phillies-Dodgers Game 5 turned into a 10-4 rout that brought World Series tickets back to Philadelphia.

Cole Hamels brought a damper on things by giving up three solo home runs, and not getting out of the fifth inning. But the Phillies-Dodgers Game 5 was defined more by the Phillies' home runs, including two by the struggling Jayson Werth, and one each by Pedro Feliz and Shane Victorino. Those bombs combined for seven Phillies runs, compared to the Dodgers three solo shots.

The Phillies-Dodgers Game 5 also punched the Phillies World Series tickets because of the bullpen. Once more, the Dodgers' pen was rocked by walks, hit batters, wild pitches, and home run shots. The Phillies' bullpen was supposed to be knocked around like that, but J.A. Happ, Chad Durbin and Chan Ho Park kept the Dodgers out of reach after Hamels went out. Ryan Madson returned to form by dodging a bases loaded, no out jam in the eighth, and the resurgent Brad Lidge got the final outs.

With the Phillies-Dodgers Game 5, Philadelphia became the first National League defending champions in 14 years to go back to the World Series. The 76 Reds and 96 Braves did this - and both faced the Yankees in the World Series, as the Phillies may do.

The Phillies World Series tickets will be on sale for the next few days, although the city's first World Series game won't be until Halloween night. Games 3, 4 and 5 are set for October 31, November 1 and 2, which means the Phillies won't be back home for over a week. Both the Phillies and Yankees could be off for a week until the World Series starts, if the Yankees clinch tonight.
