Hillary Clinton, after recent debates, is undeniably one of the strongest candidates for the Democratic Party in the upcoming 2008 election. With both the reminder of her husband, Bill Clinton's success as president as well as her own political successes, Hillary Clinton will no doubt, give her main competition, Barack Obama and John Edwards a run for their money. The following provides an outline of Clinton's platform for her campaign for the 2008 presidency.

Abortion
1. Respect the rulings of Roe vs. Wade, but make adoptions to the ruling possible
2. The right to choice must constitutionally be safeguarded.
3. Late term abortions should be legal only when the mother's life or health is at risk.
4. Support for parental notice of teen pregnancy and family planning programs.
5. Supports expansion of embryonic stem cell research.
6. Believes in reaching out to teens in order to reduce teen pregnancy through funding of sexual education and providing contraceptives.
7. In summation, abortion should be kept legal, safe and rare.

Budget & Economy
1. Protection of the next generation through paying off the United States debt.
2. Reduction of outsourcing-bring more jobs back home.
3. Reduction of taxes within a balanced budget.
4. No history of support for reduction of federal spending.

Civil Rights
1. Supports rights being provided to gays in domestic partnerships.
2. Military service should be based on conduct, not sexual orientation. (Pro-Gay rights)
3. Reduction of prostitution is a major concern.
4. Emphasis on women's rights being interchangeable with human rights.
5. An apology for slavery is due, but there should be more focus on changes to civil rights in the present.

Crime
1. Supports the "Three Strikes" rule and the construction of more prisons.
2. Supports increased funding and stricter sentences for hate crimes.
3. Supports requiring DNA testing for federal executions.

Hillary's campaign shows what a tough nut she is. If she can run the country as good as she weathers this campaign, we'll be in 100% a better place. Obama's sins are now coming out because the GOP was hoping he'd make the final and then they could rip the lid off and stun voters and get them to shrug and vote for MCCain.

I'm undecided. What more can you tell me?

A highly qualified female candidate would have been Condaleeza Rice. The woman has impeccable credentials, is talented, but is despised because of her association with G.W. Regarding Hillary, I live in New York and she's done jack s$it here. When campaigning for NY Senator, she promised the same things she's now promising on a national scale. The result after years as a NY Senator? No new jobs created in NY, job losses, in fact, and a lot of pork projects. Even Dems don't want more Clinton years. It would be too much suffering.

A platform is of course, but what about the tactics used to win a tight race, such as the ohio primary? Clinton teamed up with a boxer named Kelly Pavlik to seal the deal in that mega-important primary... http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/641303/boxer_kelly_pavlik_wins_ohio_democratic.html

Bravo for the attempt. More people should focus on the issues...or at least know them. My only complaint is that these are so broad. Believes "Social security protects both families and retirees." "The homeless should not be criminalized, rather they should be aided." "Provide equal access to capital and jobs for all." Well yeah, everybody thinks those things. You could have added "Opposes cancer".

Emerald, you have presented an intriguing and well thought out article. I am clearly a supporter of Hillary Clinton, and I have made no bones about it. In as much, I felt compelled to script what I feel will be the outcome of the primaries if Hillary does not win. "Four More Years" is the title of my most recent article describing the element of surprise. I am deep concern about this election, we truly have to much at stake. I have taken an oath to refrain from discussion the issues at work just for my own sanity. Thank you for laying out the most obvious, and I most confer that I appreciate many of the comments by your readers. I am taking it all in and I could be wrong, but I don't want to see us go backwards. Poinciana

The total cost to the campaigns of the 2004 Presidential election was just over 1.7 Billion dollars or roughly $14.47 per vote cast in the general election. This does not count the money spent by the 527 groups, like MoveOn.org and Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, that are (supposedly) independent of the campaigns. This figure will be easily eclipsed this time because in 2004 President Bush did inot have to contest the Primary Season. But there is no way to tell how much the campaigns cost because there are so many surrogate organizations following campaign finance reform (McCain - Feingold) and there's no sure way to tell how much money they raise or where it comes from.

Living in Australia I find the U.S. elections amazing. Does any one know the combined costs, to run such a long campaign before anyone becomes President. Nice article! added as a favorite

Good article! Thanks. I'm more of a Barack supporter, but I like Hilary, too. Lately, everything is being rejected (though I'm thinking a new CM has been assigned to me), could you do my a favor and visit some of my articles? If you comment, I always make sure to visit your articles so you get page views as well. I don't feel it's fair unless the page views are reciprocated.

I am more than comfortable supporting Hillary Clinton for President. Experience and knowledge of the issues IS important when your running for the worlds most important job, she has both.

Don't vote for a moderate republican if you think that they will support democratic party ideals. They may lead to believe that they will, but they will not. The opposite is true as well.
