Britney Spears Takes Stage at House of Blues

For the first time in nearly three years, pop diva Britney Spears took the stage to perform a 5-song set Tuesday night.

Opening with her debut single "Baby One More Time," Spears performed at the House of Blues in San Diego, California as the opening act for the band M+Ms. Her performance lasted roughly 20 minutes and also included songs from earlier albumns..

The former Grammy Winner took time off from live performances after marrying former back up dancer Kevin Federline in 2004. She filed for divorce from Federline in 2006, shortly after the birth of their second son. Soon after, she became the favorite topic of tabloids after a variety of stunts that included her attending wild parties and her shaving her head (she wore a wig at Tuesday's concert).

The 25-year-old singer checked into a Malibu rehab clinic earlier this year. It's unclear what she was seeking treatment for. Her decision to enter rehab came one day after Federline requested an emergency hearing regarding their children. He later cancelled his request.

Spears concert did not come as a total surprise to fans. Spears announced a potential comeback earlier this year and Internet rumors about a potential concert at the House of Blues have been circulating for days, resulting in the concerts being sold out despite most fans not knowing anything about the band M+Ms or exactly which concert Spears was supposed to be performing at (both the House of Blues and her publicist did not comment about the rumors). Those at the concert reportedly paid as much as $125 for a ticket. The Associated Press reported many fans were unhappy with the concert because the believed she rushed through her songs and they didn't get their money's worth.

It's unclear whether Spears intends on performing any more concerts or if this was a one-time deal. It's also unclear whether she was paid for the performance.
