Chronicles of an Abused Child: The First Time I was Almost Murdered

The other day my brother and I were on the phone talking about old times when we were getting our butts kicked unmercifully every single day by a woman (our legal guardian) who was obviously demon possessed. As we were talking he asked me if I remembered the day that we almost got murdered and after reminding me of the day it all came flooding back and for the first time I understood what had happened.

You see I was only about seven years old then. I was very naive and believed everything that grown ups told me. My legal guardian was a very crazy woman. My father had abandoned me and my brother and we didn't know where my mother was at the time. So, this crazy lady had taken over caring for us and she was absolutely brutal. Nothing on our bodies was sacred to her. She made us strip naked daily and beat us for hours all over our bodies including between the legs. She usually used an extension cord to deliver her patented brand of physical torture. Another interesting thing about her was that she was an insurance fanatic. She had insurance on everything and everyone. She was always collecting money because someone she had insured had died or been in an accident. I can even remember one year when our dog ran out in the street and got hit by a car. She collected about $4,000.00 dollars on that one. So, it was no mystery that she had huge amounts of insurance on me and my brother.

Her husband was a habitual criminal (kleptomaniac ) and was always in jail for stealing this or that. When we happened into their lives he had already been in jail off and on for 20 years. Anyway, this one time he had come home from prison, she forced him to be very brutal to us. I say this because I can remember many times he would say "I can't do that to these kids Mae" but she would be so insistent that later on he would do whatever inhumane thing it was she wanted him to do to us. It was usually something violent.
