Making a kids mobile is one of the simplest crafts you and your child can do together. The best part is, I am sure you have most or all of the needed items on hand. No need to run out to the craft store to get started, enabling you to put this together on a whim. Materials you will need are:

Durable plastic or metal hanger
Unlined drawing paper
Crayons or magic markers
Hole punch
Scissors
White or colored string
Cardboard is optional
If using cardboard in your mobile, glue will also be necessary

Decide on a theme for the mobile. The theme can match the child's bedroom decor or be anything else that interests your child. A seasonal mobile is a great way to celebrate the changes in nature. The completed mobile is a representation of what moves and inspires your child at this moment in time, making it a wonderful keepsake.

Have your child draw pictures on plain paper correlating to the chosen theme. If you are making a Spring mobile, you child can draw pictures of flowers, birdhouses or rainbows. If your child's favorite summer activity is a day at the beach, draw pictures of shells and sandcastles. If your little one is a budding equestrian, help them draw pictures of horses. If you have cardboard on hand and would like your mobile's pictures to be sturdier and long lasting, fold the paper in half before the child starts to create their masterpieces. The pictures should then be colored and decorated as desired. Stickers, glitter or any other craft supplies you have on hand can be used to jazz up the pictures. The appeal of this project is that it can be very simple for younger children or as ornate as you and your child wish.

I would never have thought of this. I think of mobiles as baby things, but now I am rethinking that. Thanks!
