For those times when you need something to do, when you feel like a mini vacation so to speak, but do not want to go away, when you just need to have one day to do something special, that is the time for a day trip. In and around San Francisco there are many places where a day trip is a very rewarding experience, a day trip full of fun and education and a day trip you will want to repeat. So, if you live in San Francisco or are in San Francisco for a vacation, take a look at these and make yourself a special day trip.

Whale Watching is a day trip experience that only those on the coasts can enjoy, and you can take a day trip out of San Francisco to Monetary and put out to sea and meet some magnificent creatures. Monterey Bay Whale Watch will take you out with a biologist on board. You will not only see the whales, but get to know all about them. They do day trips all year long and the whales will actually swim along side the boat and keep you company. You can choose from morning or afternoon trips. Summer and Fall Whale Watch - May through mid-December you can see Humpback Whales, Blue Whales, Dolphins, Killer Whales or Winter and Spring Whale Watch - December 15 through April 30 Gray Whales, Dolphins, Killer Whales. Located at: 84 Fisherman's Wharf
Monterey, California 93940 Phone 831-375-4658, about 2 hours from San Francisco

The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is a day trip world of its own just a little over 60 miles from San Francisco. You could come here just for the shopping, but there is so much more. You could come for the free entertainment, concerts and fireworks, but there is so much more. You could come for the special attractions Arcade Games & Laser Tag
Mini Golf, Pool, Arcades & Food Bowling, Parties, Lounge & Café, but there is so much more. And that is rides like
Giant Dipper , the 1911 Looff Carousel the 125' Tall Double Shot, Haunted Castle and Trip to the Dark Side plus kiddy rides, and more. This is enough for anyone to have a full day. Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk 400 Beach St., Santa Cruz, California 95060.
