rave reviews from travel guides, ski magazines, and food critics for over twenty-five years. So to finally satisfy my own dining curiosity, I decided to grab a friend and see what all the culinary fuss was about. Here's what we found...

Setting: From the outside, Hemingway's Restaurant looks just like a warm and inviting ski chalet. But inside, you actually have several very different dining atmospheres to choose from. You can eat in the ultra-fancy Vaulted Room which features crystal chandeliers, hardwood floors, and formally-draped tables and chairs. Or if you prefer a slightly cozier setting, you can have an intimate meal in the Garden Room with its brick walls, roaring fireplace, sprawling plants, and lovely window view. And then there's the Wine Cellar, which has been converted into a small stone-laced dining area that's reminiscent of castles and knights. But no matter where you have dinner in this lovely eatery, the candlelit ambience is pleasant and relaxing. A true joy to experience through and through!

Service: The service at Hemingway's Restaurant turned out to be superb. The hostess found us a beautiful Garden Room table immediately--and right by the fireplace no less. Our waitress was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about every detail of the menu. The food arrived quickly and presented fit for a king. We had no problem receiving second rounds of dessert or extra coffee. And when we were ready to get back to our Killington travel adventures, the check got settled in a flash. You couldn't ask for more!

This restaurant is exceptional. Linda the hostess is friendly, casual attair is appropriate consistent with fine restaurant in a ski location. The chef has a rare sense of food terroir, in that the combinations are intrinsically country and intrinsic to Vermont and New England. I am remined of the late Bernard L'Ouiseax of Burgundy. Try the rabbit pot pie or the fresh Boston and Maine seafood presentations. Enjoy the food with a fine Burgundy that will not be overpriced. This is not an inexpensive but the value fair. You can pay as much in other ski area restaurants but you can't get a meal like this anywhere else.
