Angry Student Posts Video on YouTube Calling for Murder of His Teacher
The video-sharing megasite YouTube has seen its fair share of wacky, wild and disturbing content, but one of the latest videos to appear on YouTube has authorities and many across the nation calling for stricter guidelines regarding what can and cannot be posted.
YouTube has often been under fire from the entertainment industry who claim users can download video of television shows illegally. But the video in question today is much more serious than a copyrighted sitcom. The video calls for the murder of a Staten Island
teacher.
Matthew Pacelli, a 16-year-old student from Staten Island, upset after receiving a failing grade on a math test at Port Richmond High School, posted a video on YouTube calling for anyone to murder his math teacher. Matthew Pacelli included the teachers name and address in the video, and is quoted as saying "When you see her, shoot her in the neck."
Sometime after the call for murder video surfaced on YouTube, it came to the attention of Andrew Greenfield, the head of security at Port Richmond High School, who promptly reported it to authorities, leading to the arrest of Matthew Pacelli.
The student was released today on $1,500 bail and has been charged with aggravated harassment. He refused to be interviewed, angrily swearing at reporters.
Some students at Port Richmond High School believe Matthew Pacelli was only joking, while others compared him to Virginia Tech killer Cho Seung-Hui, stating that he was a loner who often wrote notes of a suicidal or violent nature.
Matthew Pacelli faces up to a year in jail for posting the video on YouTube.
