Homemade Recipes for Tooth Whitening

Most people like to show off their pearly whites, but certain factors can cause teeth to dull and yellow. Many whitening products are on the market today but most are quite expensive. Instead of emptying your pockets to buy these products, there are homemade ways
that you can keep your teeth as white as possible. Following are some ways to make homemade whitening treatments at home.

One recipe for making a homemade tooth whitener is using Baking Soda, like Arm and Hammer. You can mix one teaspoon of baking soda with one half of a teaspoon of lemon juice for this whitener. Apply this mix with a cotton swab to your teeth, brush stains off with a toothbrush and water, and then simply rinse. This should help coffee and tea stains virtually disappear. This treatment is for occasional use only, no more than once or twice per month. The acid in lemon juice is strong and can eat the enamel off of your teeth. Combining it with baking soda helps to buffer it and won't destroy the enamel, as long as this treatment isn't overused. A paste made with a teaspoon of lemon juice mixed with a teaspoon of salt can also be used as a tooth whitener. Brush your teeth with this paste to help exfoliate and remove stains from the teeth. Again though, don't use this paste often because the acids in lemon juice can eat away the enamel on your teeth.

An orange peel rubbed across the teeth can also help whiten them. Citric acid naturally has properties that help to whiten the teeth, so either an orange or lemon peel could be used for this purpose. Crushed strawberries can be occasionally used in place of toothpaste, because the fruit has properties and enzymes that can help whiten teeth.

Do NOT use this exact recipe! i did my research, and it is BAD to put LEMON JUICE on your teeth! You should substitute the lemon juice with hydrogen peroxide!
