Homemade Diet Recipes for Detoxing Your Body

A detox diet is a regimen that you follow for about a week to try and rid your body of toxins and contaminants. Detox diets promote fast weight loss, and there are many forms. Some detox
diets are healthy, while others are very unhealthy, although almost every detox diet will deprive your body of much needed nutrients. Limiting certain foods while on a detox diet is essential for success, and limiting activity is important, because while on a detox diet, your body isn't getting all of the needed nutrients and makes some feel drained, lethargic, or sick. Following are foods that you need to consume while on a detox diet, with simple recipes, as well as foods that need to be avoided altogether during a detox regimen.

Foods that are best for a detox diet are fresh, raw vegetables and fruits, unsalted nuts, juice, beans, potatoes, brown rice or noodles, yogurt and herbal tea. Foods that need to be avoided include breads, all other dairy products, red meat, chicken, butter, eggs, sweets, sugar, chips and other junk foods, processed foods like luncheon meat, coffee, tea, alcohol and fast food. Any sauces, dressings, and condiments should also be avoided.

A vegetable soup made with water and fresh vegetables such as tomato, cucumber, celery, carrots, and cabbage is a good choice for a detox diet, and you can eat as much of it as you want. Baked potatoes are also a good choice, as long as you avoid sour cream, butter, and other toppings. Vegetable stir fries made with brown noodles or brown rice and salads with either no dressing or one such as a balsamic vinegar are also good choices. Fresh fish can also be eaten while on a detox diet because certain types of fish contain no calories, and can be combined into a casserole with fresh fruit or vegetables.
