One of the most common sources which people turn to when looking for a job is the classified advertisements of their local newspaper. Each day, in any given newspaper across the world, there are many advertisements for businesses wishing to hire new employees. With so many job listings posted in the classified ads in your local newspaper each day, the task of finding the most suitable job opportunity can be a daunting task. Here are some tips to help you find the job in the classified advertisements that best suits your interests and qualifications

Many people will simply look through the classified ads and call in an inquiry for every single job listing. The problem with this strategy is that you will probably encounter countless opportunities, which are either not suited for a person of your qualifications and interests, or are not legitimate opportunism with reputable businesses. The best idea when searching the classified advertisements in the newspaper is to look through the classified advertisements with certain keywords in mind. These keywords should reasonably match your skills, credentials, and interests.

For every job listing that you see in the newspaper, there may be a few that are not legitimate. Narrow your list down further by doing research into the company's corporate profile, the company's history, the salary that the company will offer, the benefits package that the company will offer, and the company's reputation.

Once you have narrowed your list of possible jobs down even further, once again think about the details of the job description, as well as the benefits and salary that the company has to offer, and determine if indeed the job is well suited for your interests and qualifications. After you have done this again, only then should you call in an inquiry to the company.

When you are searching for a job using the classified ads in the newspaper, it is ways best to search every edition, morning and evening. Each new edition of the paper includes many job opportunities that were not included in the previous edition.

Takeaways
  • when searching for jobs using the classified ads, narrow your search down as specifically as you can
  • select jobs in the classifieds that match your interests and qualifications

I read in the forums that some CPs found Associated Content through an ad in the classifieds. So, it is definitely still relevant!

LOL truthfully, I am too, I was trying to appeal to a wide variety of people. I've seen middle aged people who have little computer skills, that would still use the classifieds.
