How to Get the Mod Look
It's Trendy Again with Celebs like Sienna Miller Wearing the Look
1. In order to look mod when it doubt go simple, the simpler the better. A simple pea coat or shift dress without a lot of frills will look more mod than clothes that have too many details going on. It's best to stay with clean lines with this look.
2. When going mod think dresses. As already stated a simple shift dress in a bold color can look mod. But even though mini-dresses and baby-doll dresses don't have as much structure or as clean of a line as the shift, these dresses still evoke that free-flowing sixties vibe and will look mod as long as you don't go crazy with the accessories.
3. Choose bold colors and patterns. The mod look isn't about being a shrinking violet, it's about getting noticed and looking cool. So go for clothes that are black and white or that are in bright colors. If you're wearing a pattern it should be a fairly noticeable and it should be cool like a geometric style. No paisley patterns or teeny tiny floral motifs.
4. Mod jewelry should be fun, chunky, and colorful and it doesn't have to cost a fortune. A simple black or white bracelet can be enough to give you the mod effect. The new trendy Lucite bangles that have been seen on celebs like Drew Barrymore or fashion stylist Stacy London (of TLC's What Not To Wear) are c-thru and chunky so they definitely look mod. Don't go overboard with lots of dangly necklaces or gold jewelry this look should be fun and not at all bohemian.
5. Sunglasses should be big (not Nicole Richie big) and slightly retro and chunky looking. Go with a square or oval in colors like black or white
