The Bachelor: Jason Mesnick Who Dumped Melissa Rycroft is Engaged to Molly Malaney

Remember ABC's The Bachelor's most infamous bachelor to date, Jason Mesnick? If you don't recall, Mesnick is the rather cocky bachelor who surreptitiously dumped Melissa Rycroft, 33, for Molly Malaney, 25.

So what, you say?

It was how Jason let Rycroft go that made him infamous. Mesnick dumped Rycroft in March on the 'After the Final Rose' special. Just moments later he told the viewing world that he really loved Malaney.

Rycroft was humiliated and heartbroken on national television. The television audience was stunned and became instantly leery of Mesnick and his motives.

So what was the point of pretending he had chosen Rycroft just to turn around and declare his love for Malaney?

Perhaps we'll never know, or care for that matter.

While many doubted Mesnick's credibility and sincerity at this point, they also anticipated that his love for Malaney was a ruse as well.

Not only did Mesnick destroy his trustworthiness, he also lived in Seattle and Malaney in Milwaukee causing speculation that a long distance relationship would soon wane.

However, the November 9 issue of People Magazine reports that Mesnick and Malaney are now engaged. Mesnick proposed to Malaney on October 21 in New Zealand where The Bachelor was filmed.

Apparently last month Malaney decided to move to Mesnick's home in Seattle. Just a couple of weeks later, they hosted Air New Zealand's Matchmaking Flight in which 100 singles in search of love were flown from LA to Auckland.

People reports that this trip is what inspired Mesnick to ask Malaney to marry him.

Malaney describes the way Mesnick proposed in fairy-tale terms. According to Malaney, Mesnick asked her if she wanted to have a toast and set the camera to take a picture of them using the auto-timer feature.

Malaney said when the camera clicked they took a drink and she discovered the engagement ring at the bottom of her glass.

Good for Molly Malaney - I truly hope she is happy and that Jason Mesnick is sincere.

Another positive note that is Melissa Rycroft is marrying this winter, according to People. Rycroft said that her and Jason's breakup was "a blessing in disguise".
