Today Show Halloween Costumes Recreate Star Wars Set

Today Show Halloween costumes set the bar for yesterday's Halloween-themed programming. The Today Show Halloween costumes were part of a big show, as the Today Show Halloween became a big homage to Star Wars. The Today Show Halloween costumes may not have been that original, since Star Wars costumes have been a Halloween staple for 30 years. But the Today Show Halloween costumes and set were the largest All Hallows Eve show in daytime, as NBC may not have good ratings, but they do have great costumes.

The Today Show Halloween costumes had a galaxy far far away taking over daytime. Yesterday, the show was hosted by Han Solo - a.k.a Al Roker - Princess Leia as Meredith Vieira, C-3PO as Kathie Lee Gifford, Yoda as Hoda Kotb, Darth Vader as Ann Curry, and Luke Skywalker as Matt Lauer.

But the Today Show Halloween costumes weren't the only Star Wars tribute of the day. The whole set was decked in Star Wars garb - down to Lauer being unable to get out of an X-Wing. George Lucas himself even lent them the props, giving the Today Show crew an extra edge in the Halloween daytime competition.

Although Regis and Kelly dressed up as Jon and Kate, and were a tiny bit less dated, the Today Show Halloween costumes are still the most talked about from yesterday. They may have cheated a little bit since they had help from George Lucas, and their Star Wars homage was also a big plug for the Star Wars: In Concert symphony tour that is touring the country.

Still, the Today Show Star Wars tribute was an old school Halloween, since the likes of Twilight and other more recent hits are likely to dominate Halloween costumes this year. Despite the original film being 32 years old, Star Wars is still as much of a Halloween costume tradition as ghosts and goblins. The ABC TV show FlashForward even had one character dress as Obi-Wan Kenobi in a trick-or-treat scene Thursday night.
