Spiderman 3 from a Comic Book Fan's Perspective
Let's get to the review. One statement envelops my whole opinion of the movie:
Spider-man 3 is a movie made for comic book geeks.
The good, the bad, the exciting and the dull. Everything about this movie was geared towards comic geeks.
First of all... the story. Peter Parker is finally coming to grips with being a superhero. The city of New York is happy with Spider-man (finally, no thanks to J. Jonah Jameson). He's out fighting crimes, with the help of his trusty police scanner. Spidey/Parker are finally at a truce. Pete is prepping to propose to his pretty partner, Mary Jane. He is truly happy. But, as every comic book Spider-man fan will tell you, this isn't the natural way of the world. Spider-man is supposed to be angst-ridden, depressed, upset. Spidey cannot have a moment's peace in the world.
Let's start off his woes with Harry Osborne. Harry has taken up his father's twisted psycho mantle, and decides to try and kill Parker once and for all. He picks Pete up and swings him all over downtown NYC, and winds up taking a huge bump on the head in the process, which leads to the most convenient of all plot twists: amnesia! (DUN-DUN-DUN!) Pete and Harry are best of friends again after he wakes up, blissfully unaware of Spidey's allegedly murderous tendencies.
