John Mayer, Twitter Addict: Jennifer Aniston, Miley Cyrus, and Twitter Account-ability
Is There More John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston Drama or is it All Old News?
In the seemingly neverending soap opera of "they-broke-up-they're-back-together-they-broke-up" celebrity dating that is/was the lives of Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer, a "source" informed Star magazine back at the end of March that the real reason that John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston were no longer a couple was because of Twitter. According to the source, John Mayer spent hours on Twitter, tweeting away, and not spending any time with his girlfriend, telling her he was busy with work. And at the end, Mayer didn't even try to hide his obsession and let Jennifer Aniston go without a fight. The source, who claimed to be a close friend of Aniston's, told Star magazine that Mayer had stopped calling or returning Aniston's e-mails. He would apologize and tell her how busy he was at work. The source said that Jennifer Aniston became incensed at the guitarist when she found hundreds of tweets on his Twitter account, messages he didn't even bother to hide, and when confronted about all the "work" he was doing, did not even bother to defend himself. He didn't deny his avoidance, just said OK and that he was sorry things didn't work out.
But shortly after the break-up, John Mayer told E! Online that he wasn't addicted to Twitter and that it was just a communication tool. "It's inherently silly and it's inherently dumb," he said in March. It wasn't the "path to spiritual enlightenment," and "it's one step away from sending pictures of your poop."
With that graphic image, he continued, "I've always communicated at a high level as best I can whether it's Twitter, Napster, or message boards or whatever. I don't have a devotion to Twitter. I didn't sell out to Twitter. You do Twitter until everybody gets off of Twitter and it's something else you go and try out."
In other words, John Mayer is not addicted or obsessed with Twitter. He's addicted to communicating. Funny how he couldn't quite communicate that to Jennifer Aniston back in the Spring.
