In 1772, in Radhanagore, Bengal, a young baby boy by the name of Ram Mohun Roy was born. No one knew at the time, but before his death in 1833 he would change many things in diverse areas of history. At a young age Roy became very fascinated by religion and learned that his family background was full of all kinds of religious backgrounds. His father, Ramkant, was a Vaishnavite, and his mother, Tarini, came from the Shakta background. Being fascinated by different religions, Roy learned many different languages so he could easily understand and learn about different religions, and by the age of fifteen Roy known Arabic, Bangla, Persian, and Sanskrit.

As Ram Mohun Roy matured into a teenager and became wiser about all of the different religions and different beliefs, he became very dissatisfied by his families religious beliefs and their choice of religion. After coming to this conclusion, Roy began to travel around and 'experiment' with all kinds of religions. After traveling for several years, Roy came back home and managed his family property. After coming back home to manage his families property, Roy became a moneylender in Calcutta from 1803 - 1814, in which time he worked for the British East India Company.

Ram Mohun Roy, didn't just affect one area of history, Roy was a religious reformer, a social reformer, an educationist, and a journalist. While affecting all of these areas, he is believed to be one of the most important people in the Bengal Renaissance. When Roy believed something, he would always go out and try to make others believe his same way and try to do the best things to his ability.
