Homemade gifts are perfect when you really don't have any extra money to spend. They also mean a lot more to the recipient. Why not make your Dad a homemade gift this Father's Day.
1. A Paperweight
Supplies you will need:
* A small block of heavy wood
* A piece of sandpaper.
* Paint
* A school picture
* Decorations for the paperweight; pictures, stars, hearts, or stickers
* Acrylic Spray
Step 1: Sand your block of wood with your sandpaper until it is nice and smooth.
Step 2: Paint your block one of your Dad's favorite colors. Then set it aside to dry.
Step 3: On the front, add a picture of your most recent school year.
Step 4: Decorate the back and sides of your paperweight with other cool pictures, stickers, hearts, stars, footballs or anything else you can think of.
Step 5: Spray your paperweight with Acrylic Spray. This will keep it protected.
Step 6: Give paperweight to Dad on Father's Day.
2. T-shirt with Handprints
Supplies you will need:
* A plain white T-shirt. Most craft shops sell them for $3.00.
* Paint
* A paper plate
* Your hands
Step 1: Decide where you want your hands to go on the shirt. I suggest placing them in the center if you are an only child. If your siblings want to participate, you may want to place your handprints from oldest to youngest. Either way it is best to plan where you are going to put them before you begin.
Step 2: Pour some paint on a paper plate and dip your hands in it. Then press them evenly and firmly on your Dad's shirt. If you have siblings be sure to use a different color paint for each brother or sister.
Step 3: Get a paintbrush or use puffy paint to add your names under your handprints.
Step 4: Finish by decorating the shirt any way you like. Some suggestions would be to add Happy Father's Day or Father's Day 2007 on the top of the shirt.
Step 5: Give to Dad on Father's Day
3. A Handprint Poem
Supplies you will need:
* A poem or a piece of paper and a pen to write your own
* Paint
* A paper plate
* Your hands
