What Could I Write to Santa for Christmas Gifts?

How Santa and I (Finally) Came to an Agreement

4
Over the years I've learned many tips to writing letters to Santa. Through our correspondence I have learned what items can be covered and what can't. Here is my story. I hope that it will help you with your own Santa letters and receiving Christmas gifts.

It all started with a dare to write a letter to Santa:

Dear Santa,

I haven't written you in years. Well actually, I haven't written to you ever. I vaguely understand the concept. So, I ask for a Christmas gift, and if I've made it onto the nice list then I get it. Am I understanding you right? Well, I haven't been good enough for this Christmas gift but I will try my best. For Christmas I want all wars to stop and all people to have health and food.

Thanks,
Rose

I soon received a response from Santa:

Dear Rose,

I appreciate your ideals but there are strict guidelines about what Christmas gifts can be granted. Unfortunately your Christmas wish falls under the clause of wishes for others on a grand scale. This is outside of my authority and I would recommend taking up the matter with powers higher than me. Now, what do you want for a Christmas gift for yourself?

Happy Holidays,
Santa

This seemed like a reasonable limitation, and being unused to the protocol, I accepted it and made a reply:

Dear Santa,

Thank you for your reply. I understand with Christmas being around the corner it is significant that you took time out from your Santa duties to assist me in making my request for Christmas gifts. For Christmas, I would like to be out of debt. You know how hard I've been working at it. Perhaps you could give me a nudge.

Thanks,
Rose

I soon received a response from Santa:

Dear Rose,

Debt reduction and other forms of indirect giving are not under my jurisdiction either. In order for your Christmas wish to be granted you must ask for a direct gift that is not for purely for alleviation of a negative circumstance.

Happy Holidays,
Santa

Well that seemed like a reasonable limitation as well. I would have to be sneakier to promote my ideals with Santa:

Dear Santa,

Thank you for your patience with a new letter writer like myself. I would like to change my Christmas gift request to Kiva gift certificates.

Thanks,
Rose
